The Marine Corps League is the only Congressionally chartered United States Marine Corps -related veterans organization in the United States. Its Congressional Charter was approved by the 75th U.S. Congress and signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on August 4, 1937.
The organization credits its founding on November 10, 1922 to legendary Marine Corps Commandant John A. Lejeune.
The league is a 501 (c) (4) non profit organization.
The mission of the Marine Corps League is to promote the interest and to preserve traditions of the United States Marine Corps; strengthen the fraternity of Marines and their families; serve Marines, FMF Corpsmen, and FMF Chaplains who wear or who have worn the Eagle, Globe and Anchor; and foster the ideals of Americanism and patriotic volunteerism.
WHAT WE DO
The services offered by Folsom's "W.H. Nichols" Detachment that foster the ideals of Americanism and patriotic volunteerism include:
1. Provide professional, financial and needed assistance to Veterans in distress
2. Award an Annual Mameluke Officer Swords and/or Staff NCO Sword to active duty Marines.
3. Provide financial scholarships to Folsom and Vista Del Lago High Schools
4. Provide financial scholarship to Cadet program at Casa Robles High School
5. Host an annual Marine Corps Birthday Ball for Marines, League members and all branches of the Military every November 10th
6. Provide Color Guard services for parades and special events in the local and surrounding area;
7. Provide Honor Guard Services for burials of Veterans that include rifle firing, playing of taps & presentation of flag to loved ones.
